Refining the Chart in the Editor

If you made your pattern from a photo or an AI image, you can adjust the chart using that same image. Open the pattern in the editor, then choose Settings → Chart. These adjustments do not use an AI credit.

Change the size or colour limit

1. Open Settings → Chart.
2. Set Pattern size for the longest side in stitches, inches or centimetres. Check the previewed width, height and finished measurements.
3. Choose Maximum colours. This is a limit; the chart may use fewer. A lower limit can mean fewer colour changes while stitching.
4. Choose Rebuild chart to apply your changes.

The shorter side follows the image's proportions. If you enter inches or centimetres, the editor uses your fabric count to work out the nearest whole stitch.

Small motifs can lose fine detail or look sketchy. Increasing the stitch count and rebuilding can keep more detail from the original image. It cannot add details missing from that image.

Change threads and fabric

These settings update immediately, without rebuilding or replacing your stitch edits:

• Thread brand - match the existing colours to DMC, Anchor, Madeira, Cosmo or the closest colours across brands.
• Fabric count - set the fabric you plan to use so the finished measurements are correct.
• Strands - set the number of floss strands for the PDF thread estimates.

Adjust the background or image

Under Settings → Chart, choose whether to keep the background, use Simple removal for a flat colour, or try Smart cutout for a shaded or busy background. Choose Rebuild chart to apply it. See Removing Backgrounds for examples.

For brightness, contrast and image colour adjustments, open Image under the editor's effects controls. To start from another photo, choose Use a different image in the Chart tab.

Keep your stitch edits when changing size

Use Settings → Canvas to scale the stitches already in the editor or add empty space around them. See Resize, Rotate and Position a Pattern for instructions.
