Getting Started with Xstitchify

Xstitchify turns your ideas into cross-stitch patterns you can actually stitch. Whether you've got a photo of your cat, a favourite quote, or a WiFi password you want to share in the most extra way possible - we've got a tool for that.

Everything works right in your browser. No apps to install, no software to download. It works on your phone, tablet, or laptop - whatever you've got handy.

Pattern Maker

Upload any image - a photo, illustration, or logo - and convert it into a stitchable cross-stitch chart with DMC thread colours. Adjust the colour count, pattern width, and brightness mode to get the look you want.

Text Generator

Type in a name, quote, date, or short message and pick from over 30 cross-stitch fonts. Choose single-colour, palette, or gradient colouring and see your pattern update in real time.

QR Generator

Make a QR code pattern that actually scans when you stitch it. Encode website links, WiFi passwords, or plain text messages.

Designer

Draw your own pattern from scratch on a pixel grid. Choose from canvas size presets, add decorative borders, and use the full editor with brushes, shapes, stamps, symmetry, and more.

AI Pattern Generator

Describe what you want to stitch and AI creates the pattern for you. Choose the shape, style, size, and colour count - it handles the rest.

Making your first pattern

The fastest way to get started is with the Pattern Maker. Here's the short version:

  1. Go to the Pattern Maker page.
  2. Upload a photo or image (drag and drop works too).
  3. Choose how wide you want the pattern (in stitches) and how many colours to use.
  4. Hit Generate Pattern and watch it appear.
  5. Edit your pattern in the editor if you like, then download your PDF or PNG.

That's it. Your first pattern in under a minute.

Tip: Start with a simple image - something with good contrast and not too much detail. A close-up photo of a flower or a pet's face works brilliantly.

The pattern editor

After you generate a pattern with any of the tools, you can edit it before downloading. The pattern editor gives you brushes, shapes, stamps, an eyedropper, fill tool, symmetry modes, and a full DMC colour picker. It works on desktop with a mouse and on tablets with touch or a stylus like Apple Pencil.

Need more downloads? You can grab a download pack or subscribe for unlimited downloads. Any patterns you save stay in your library regardless of your plan.
