What do I get when I sign up?
Pattern generation is free for everyone - no account needed. When you sign up, your patterns are saved to your library and you get 5 free PDF downloads. No credit card required. Need more? Grab a PDF + AI credit pack or subscribe for unlimited access. A paid subscription gives you additional benefits and features like unlimited pattern downloads, access to premium fonts, and inclusive AI generation credits.
Why a subscription?
A small subscription is what keeps Xstitchify running and improving - it covers servers, AI generation costs, and means I can work on it full time rather than as a side project. If you'd rather not commit to a recurring plan, PDF + AI credit packs are available at any time - they include separate credits for PDF downloads and AI generations, and never expire.
What's the difference between credit packs and a subscription?
Credit packs top up your PDF downloads and AI generations - they don't unlock pro features like the stitch tracker, custom fonts, advanced stitches (French knots, half & quarter), file imports, or commercial use rights. A subscription unlocks all the pro features plus gives you unlimited PDF downloads and a monthly AI allowance. If you only need a few more downloads or AI generations and don't need the extra features, a credit pack is the simpler option - if you want full access, subscribe. You can also do both: subscribers can buy credit packs as a top-up.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. Cancel from your account at any time. You keep access until the end of your billing period.
What happens to my saved patterns if I cancel?
Your patterns stay in your library forever. You can still create and save new patterns - you just need credits or a subscription to download them.
Can I switch between monthly and annual?
Yes, you can switch anytime from your subscription management page. Changes take effect at the next billing cycle.
How does the AI pattern generator work?
Describe what you want ("a cosy cottage with a smoking chimney"), pick a shape (square, portrait, landscape, bookmark) and a style, and it renders an image and turns it straight into a cross stitch chart. Standard subscribers get 30 generations a month, Pro gets 100. You can also buy one-off credit packs that never expire, with separate credits for PDF downloads and AI generations.
What does "commercial use" mean?
Standard allows you to sell finished crafts and individual patterns (e.g. on Etsy or at craft fairs). Pro adds publishing rights for books and bulk distribution (e.g. KDP pattern books).
What payment methods do you accept?
We use Stripe for secure payments. Credit/debit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and more.
What are SVG downloads?
SVG files are vector graphics you can edit in design software. Great if you want to tweak colours, resize without pixelation, or add to other designs.
Can I use my own fonts?
Yes - Standard and Pro subscribers can upload TTF or OTF font files and convert them into stitchable cross stitch patterns. Once uploaded, your fonts appear in the text generator alongside the built-in ones and stay saved to your account. Useful for matching a specific brand font, a non-Latin script, or any style not covered by our built-in fonts. See the fonts page for details.
Does Xstitchify work on my iPad or Android tablet?
Yes! Xstitchify runs in your browser on any device - iPad, iPhone, Android phones and tablets, laptops, and desktops. The pattern editor supports Apple Pencil on iPad and touch on all devices. No app download needed.
What is the stitch tracker and how does it work across devices?
The stitch tracker is a built-in cross stitch progress tracker that lives right inside the pattern editor. Tap stitches to mark them off, watch the chart fill with colour, and see per-thread progress bars, an overall completion percentage, and a highlight tool to find where to stitch next. Your progress saves to your account and syncs automatically across every device - start on your laptop, continue on your iPad, check from your phone. It works in any modern browser on iPad, iPhone, Android, Windows, and Mac, and you can switch between editing and tracking at any time without juggling a separate app. See how it works
Can I import patterns from other tools to use with the tracker?
Yes. Import OXS files from Pattern Maker, MacStitch, WinStitch, or KXStitch, Pattern Maker .xsd files, or PCStitch 7/8 .pat files, save the pattern to your library, and open it in tracker mode to start marking stitches off. You can also switch back to the editor at any time to make changes, then return to tracking.
Are the patterns compatible with Pattern Keeper?
Yes - all PDF pattern downloads work with Pattern Keeper and other cross stitch tracking apps. Xstitchify's own tracker is an option if you'd rather not use a separate app, and unlike Pattern Keeper (Android-only) it works on iPad, iPhone, Android, PC, and desktop.
