About Xstitchify
Hi, I'm Louise.
I'm the person behind Xstitchify, a set of cross stitch design tools that work in your browser.
The idea came from wanting a design tool that fits around real life - something you can pick up on the sofa or on the go whenever an idea lands, instead of being tied to a desk with clunky desktop software.
It started with books
My background is in graphic design - fonts, patterns, print design and publishing - and Xstitchify grew out of the tools I wanted while working on cross stitch books. By 2022 I'd started building a private browser-based toolkit so I could design from my iPad instead of being tied to a print workflow or desktop software.
That freedom is still part of Xstitchify today: the tools work on iPad, iPhone, Android and desktop, wherever you feel like designing.
Getting the details right
Getting the photo converter working the way I wanted has involved a lot of tweaking: matching colours more accurately, reducing confetti without losing the detail, and finding a balance that makes a pattern accurate but enjoyable to stitch.
Opening it up to everyone
Refining the tools took over and by January 2026 I'd accepted I wasn't going to publish all the books I'd planned, but the tools I'd built along the way might actually be useful to others.
I was mostly surprised no one else had made something like it, so I launched it warts and all - and the response has blown me away. Since then I've been gradually making more of it live, with plenty still on the roadmap.
Your ideas are part of it now
Xstitchify started with things I needed for my own work. Now people write to me with things they need too. Ideas, frustrations, and ways of using the tools I hadn't thought of.
That has been one of the loveliest surprises of putting it out into the world.
Those conversations help me decide what to build next, and the tools are better for everyone.
