Small, Medium and Large

The generator has three stitch sizes. Medium and Large are the same letters with every line doubled or tripled, so the shapes stay identical and simply stitch up bigger. The generator starts at Medium.

Where Backstitch Italic Caps works best

The slant gives a caption movement, which suits quotations, song lyrics and short sayings under a picture. It pairs well with the upright Backstitch Simple for a heading and caption in two styles.

Because the letters lean, their lines do not always land on grid holes: some end partway across a square, so they are stitched as long backstitches or with a fractional end. Check the chart before you start.
